Epson stylus + printers
When changing cartridges, or when the printer has been sitting, these printers more than occasionally won't print; or will partial print. First, try the cleaning routine three times followed by a test print. You may have to do this up to 12 times! These printers also have a print head pumping system like Canon, with tubes that encourage ink drying in them! If the clean and print doesn't work, take the time to clean the tubes. It's not as hard as a Canon.

BLANK PAGES
Machine will usually print several pages fine then go blank (one black line on top). To cure problem replace feed clutch spring part # ep-1013901

TRANSFER ROLLER MAINT
Never ever clean the transfer roller with a liquid as this will destroy them. New ones are $150+.

Stylus IJP
Occasional print head slamming to the left and causing faulty print with misalignment, can be resolved simply by cleaning the carriage rail of any debris and applying a light coat of lube (such as a few drops of triflow oil).  The slamming symptom is caused by a sticky/dirty printer carriage rail, which interrupts the timing during the lateral movement of the print head during printing.

INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
Intermittent symptoms of 1) Starts beeping after sitting for a while
and/or 2) Won't load properly or tear-off function won't work (symptoms
only appear when using tractor fed paper): Clean or replace the "paper
type" switch located on left end of platen roller. The switch shows some
continuity when it's supposed to be open, causing the machine to think
it has cut-sheet paper installed instead of continuous form fed paper.
